1. Total Number of Books I've Owned:
Several thousand. I've lost count on more than one occasion. Once I calculated it at 66 shelf-feet of books, but it's undoubtedly grown in the last 5 years. I've found a lovely program called Delicious Library that can use an iSight to scan in ISBN barcodes on the backs of books, and keeps a catalog. Perfect excuse for an iSight. It's on my birthday list.
2. Last Book I Bought:
A whole stack of 'em at the Friends of the Library Sale. 25 in the member's portion, and then I went out back to root through the quarter-romances in the sale tent. Nothing spectacular, though. Next time I'll have a better plan.
3. Last Book I Read:
Flipped through the Knit Stitch and the Purl Stitch last night, looking for a new project before reminding myself that I have several already, thanks. Not counting ebooks and fanfic, I had a lovely reread of Pratchett's Going Postal a week or two ago.
4. FiveThree Books that Mean a Lot to Me:
Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice - The BBC movie is one of my comfort movies, and the book is a comfort book. I love them both unreservedly. (Though I admit to fast-forwarding past Mr. Collins' obsequies.)
Anne McCaffrey's Dragonsong - The whole Harper Hall trilogy, really. Started my introduction to science fiction and gave me dreams. My yellow bike was a queen dragon, and I would close my eyes and hold my breath for a count of three to simulate going between.
Where the Red Fern Grows - This book taught me how to have a good cry. By the end I'm a waterworks, and it's not my usual cup of tea, but sometimes you just need to hit yourself over the head with a good catharsis.
