HP:OotP (No spoilers)

The UBookstore party was pretty tame - kids here and there, and little nifty Potter-y bits. Lucy and I got stickers and hid in the Sci-Fi section before we descended on the food, and then waited five minutes for the lines to die down after the opening drumroll before getting our copies. The Bookstore had a good policy - they were ringing up receipts from eleven until midnight, and then at midnight with the receipt you could pick up your copy at one of three designated hand-out spots and zoom off to the nearest IHOP to start devouring it over chicken strips and fries. Cut down on the frustration and lines quite a bit. (Well, I harped, but mostly for the pleasure of griping.)

So. Um, I'm done now. Been discouraging the cats from snuggling up to me and the book since we got home. I really love Rowling for making her characters human and fallible. Adore her, really. She hasn't wedged out Flint or Austen, but she's working on it.

Hee! Hunkahunka burnin' love :)

And yep - 870 pages, and I finished in 4 or so hours. It's a quick read, especially the action bits. I intend to soak it in a few more times once it's settled in my brain.

I'm letting Dragon read it first so that I'll work on this Fitz ResFic.

Glad you like him. Isn't he cute?

And did you ever get your cat to quit pissing in the house? If so, *how*? Mine are doing the same god damn thing and it's making me cry and tear hair out. The spraying son of a bitch has ruined 8 books. Some of which I *really* resent losing.

Which one? Calvin hasn't had an 'accident' (otherwise known as 'malicious prank' when it comes to Ali's sheets - he's got it in for her for some readson) in months. With him, as long as I let him out on demand, he's good to go outside. One of my neighbors has mentioned 'that grey cat who keeps pooping in my garden!' but I'm just humming to myself and ignoring it.

On the other hand, Laurier and Callie both have bad litterbox habits. Callie's not as good at coming back in, and Lori's a worrier, so she doesn't go outside as much, and Laurier's a cowardly moron, so I'm not letting him out at all.

We put a second litter box behind the couch (Callie's main depositing ground) and now that we've turned the heaters off, I've moved the couches back to block the spaces completely and moved the box over to the newest pissing place. So far that seems to be working. I'd be happier with wood floors - easier to spot and clean up problems than carpet.

So basically: Calvin, solved. Callie, mostly. Laurier, in progress.
