Pampering

Still haven't caught up on email. And I did leave my current book at home... except that I noticed the Golden Key on my shelf on Sunday, and it's even longer than Shadow of the Lion. (And heavier. And Alas! water damaged from the basement flood in Kansas a few years back.)

The HellWomen are talking about a trip down to the Olympus Spa in Tacoma. I haven't been pampered like that in, well, ever, and it really sounds tempting. Expensive, but tempting.

Speaking of pampering, Lucy's birthday is coming up, and I'm pondering what to get her. Her car's out of commission, but she asked for studio time, so hmm. Must ponder logistics.

I tried a little calligraphy practice last night - Italics, though I want to start in on Half-Uncials. I love my new pens. I also realized that I don't have a real desk. I've got flat surfaces for my computers, but no desk-desk. I saw a drawing board-style desk at the UBookstore yesterday and was tempted, and I'm planning a trip to Ikea for shelving, but the question remains: Where would I put the bloody thing?

I think I might look into sorting through my clothes again and bagging up some Goodwill donations. Or at least toss the winter stuff in one of Lori's closets. I sense a massive weekend to-do list in the making.

Ah! The first few chapters of Diplomatic Immunity are up at Baen.com Ah! And Weber's latest Honor is coming soon! Booklust! Rampant booklust!

Sometimes the most blinding of truths can hit you in that semi-daze of bus-riding. And sometimes, well...

Today's observation, since I'm blinded by Lois McMaster Bujold: Chris is so Miles. Totally. And Justin could be Cousin Ivan. But Chris is Miles, the hyperactive freakish little midget genius. Except Chris is taller.

Craptastic

So I had a wings craving. And typically with a wings craving, I tend to get a craving to sit in Hooters and talk loudly and at length about slash and gay sex.

Only Ali had this thing downtown, and Lori has this thing in Iowa, and I couldn't find Lucy, and talking slash with John just doesn't hold the same draw, y'know?

So I wandered down to Hooters, picked up my order from April the Perky Blonde, wandered back home and plunked myself in front of the tv. I managed to catch the last half hour of the first Indiana Jones movie, so my poking at the House dvd collections was sort of fruitless.

That wasn't the craptastic part, really. That was sort of fun. No, the craptastic part, once you get past the subversion of the English language, is that Seth Green's got his new series on tonight. Greg the Bunny, looks to be fun, and hey, Seth Green. Only... Ivan Sergei's got his new series, too. And they're on at the SAME TIME!! Argh!

Ah'm gonna hunt me down some studio execs, see if'n ah don't.

Oh my god. How can I love him even more? I mean, I'm still in the would-bear-his-children stage of starry-eyed bliss with Eric Flint. He's a newish author, but damn, he's ramping up to be spectacularly prolific, and now I find he's got just about the neatest opinion about online books I've seen yet. What's next, b

I love Baen. I'm all hearts and flowers over their Free Library. This is (dare I say it?!) better than Puppies!

Ok, well, wait. It's not sparkly, and it doesn't dance and sing. So no, not better.

Yes, retract before your public lynches you, eh?

But Wow. Damn. Hot shit.

Wait. This has been around for over a year and I haven't known about it?! What kind of a bibliophile am I? Woe! Despair!

And in the meantime, hot damn!

Heehee.

I had to call Mom and Dad and tell them. Tell Dad how to amuse himself on the long plane rides down to Bonaire. Mom asked me if I was high. And I am! High on books! Better than crack!

And I told them about Flexcar, that I signed up for at lunch, and nostalgia-ville, wandering around the HUB, and we discussed Gatorade versus Koolaid, and other things to send to Dru.

Good times.

Ivan is so cute! Not quite Bunny or Seth cute, but adorable nonetheless.

And this quote!

"We're gonna have some fun. Big F, big U, little n."

Ahahahahaha!
