"If you can keep your head
Sep. 11th, 2002 12:33 pmwhen all about you are loosing theirs and blaming it on you..."
Well, you're one up as an Immortal. And that's my entire commentary for the serious, earth-shattering issues plaguing today. Thankfully, NPR switched over to a gardening show ("Morning Glories - they're like a bad idea in Congress! You can't get rid of them!") and then the user whose computer I was working decided to switch to a mystery on tape. My avoidance tactics are so far successful.
I was up laaate last night reading Jane Lindskold's Through Wolf's Eyes. I finally rallied my self control sometime after midnight and put it down, but I finished it on the walk to work, and didn't bring either Woad to Wuin or the Eric Von Lustbader book that I got with my nifty little gift certificate yesterday, so I'm sort of quivering here without anything to read.
I mean, besides slash. Sheesh.
I picked up the little free shortshort Dune story that's a prequel to the new one coming out next week (I'll definitely be hieing down to B&N for the booksigning next Tuesday afternoon. I think Herbert and Anderson are also doing something at the UBookstore, but I'm not sure when.) That took all of ten minutes to read and re-read.
I think my little jaunt to the bookstore was a little detrimental. I'm in want again, but I daren't buy anything now, not with the FOL Book Sale in a week and a half. And even then, I'll be hurting for shelf space.
But! Want! Stories!
And running down to the bookstore for an hour would get me outside and away from my desk.
Righty-o. Justification complete. Toodles!
