Nov. 27th, 2002 11:31 amIn a blink, with the start of this song, I was almost embarrassed with a rather messy emotional explosion of affection for this album. Fortunately I mastered myself with only a few facial grimaces that go unremarked by my faithful iMac.
I just realized last night that I have today to change my med/dental plan with the University - the one I'm signed up on is going away, so I must take advantage of the open enrollment before it ends on Saturday.
Our department administrator is changing jobs and going half-time - she's been the real boss behind the Chairman-figurehead, and we had the requisite department breakfast this morning to ease her shuffle into the smaller office she'll be getting. She's an awesome woman - keeping this department running as smoothly and as well as it does (the regular explosions of bad computer karma that I deal with are in no way attached to her competence) Of all the gifts and kudos and speeches she received this morning, I am jealous of only one: a coffee mug that 'represents everything I think of you'. A Wonder Woman coffee mug. Screw Superman - I wanna be her.
I've been pondering Hogwarts and higher education quite a bit in the past week or so - Rowling never mentions it, and most of her graduates end up going directly to work, for the Ministry or what have you. In fanfic, Granger seems inevitably destined for either university or a similar higher education, or is shunted directly into a high-paid research position.
Ur - well, I'm going somewhere with this, but I think I'll disappear to lunch instead. Woo!
