Piddle. I'm looking for my application folder for the iSchool, in which I should have my old GRE scores, about which I am particularly curious. It's probably not here at work, thought not without the realm of probability, but I'm hunting through my drawers here just in case.

I've uncovered half the paperwork for my condo, and a couple of reams of old timesheets and printed support docs for WinNT and Wind95/98 from before my time. I'm saving the condo stuff, but the old test print pages have *got* to go.

And while I'm housecleaning and deleting spam - any message with the subject 'Hi' or 'Hey'? Unless I recognize the sender at first glance? Gets deleted. Unless and until I get a spam filter on my webmail, I have to manually zap my spam. So if I don't reply to your email? That's why.

A further snert - I'm about a week or so behind reading the WIKTT list, but the subjects continue to amuse me. The lastest - a topic header changes to 'This horse is paste' and then *that* message gets a good dozen or so replies.

Note to self: Harp adds +5 to heal skill for daily healing checks.
Did I name the unicorn after the Silmaril or what?

I had a lovely time watching Calendar Girls with Kris. Such a feel-good movie. :) The characters were just falliable enough without edging over the line into annoying.

It was only showing at the Guild on 45th, and nowhere else in Seattle, so the line for tickets went down the block. We made the 1:45 show, and just managed to slip in; I sneaked a peek at the ticket seller's monitor when we bought our tickets - only 9 left. We had to sit in the second row, but my jacket made for a good neckroll and the seats were comfy.

[livejournal.com profile] kasha and [livejournal.com profile] bethbethbeth were both talking (here and here) about how the HP books have no-dirty-minded teenagers running around, when in their experience, almost all they ever talked about in high school *was* sex. Man, I missed out. There are drawbacks to being a Hermione or a Ravenclaw in school.

And really, Harry's pretty asexual - we're in his head all the time, and not a hint of 'Wow, lookit those tits!', or even 'Damn, he's hung!' I can rationalize Rowling's choice in leaving that out of a children's book by thinking that Harry's obviously worried about getting killed or saving the world, but canonically, he's seriously lacking in any sort of sexual drive.

Fanfic should make up for that, but I'm not a big fan of Harry/Snape or Harry/Draco, I can't find much Harry/Ron and the Harry/Ginny crowd seems to simper more than anything, I'm still left wanting for a good, teenaged, sexualized Harry. Unless anyone has a few recs they might want to pass on?

Hobbes is whining about something, but he hasn't learnt English yet, so I am ignoring him.

I've reserved some Sayers from the library - hopefully it'll be in once I finish Post Captain and HMS Surprise. I saw somewidget compare Whimsey/Vane to Snape/Granger, and now I'm all curiosity. Plus, it inspired a thought - I shall shut myself up for my four-day weekend and watch costume dramas! Well, and game. And the epiphany party. And Whimsey isn't *exactly* costume drama, but it's British and not contemporary, so I'm counting it.

I'll visit Scarecrow on my way home Wednesday night.

Meanwhile, O'Brian keeps surprising me with laughs in Post Captain. "I should verymuch like to see your excrement." *snerk* Doctors. And then Jack dressed up as a bear to escape the French! Ahah!

Beating oneself with a kitchen towel may not be the *best* means of getting flour off of black clothes, (Someday I may have to learn the definition of 'apron) but it certainly is theraputic after trying to get homemade pizza onto a heated baking stone without the use of a peel. Two spatulas and a bit of cardboard later, cornmeal all over the counter and flour all over *me*, and I'm already swearing by the bloody peel that I haven't even bought yet.

Homemade wheat crust (we'll see how *that* goes), turkey pepperoni and pineapple. Hurry up and fucking bake so I can eat before bedtime!

God.

I should have been in bed hours ago, but then [livejournal.com profile] fearlessdiva (bitch) rec'd this new fic, and it turned into a beautiful, sexy, novel with a believably redeemed (mostly) Draco. This is the sort of Harry/Draco I can get behind.
