Eating Out Day
Apr. 29th, 2004 09:35 pmToday I took Dru out to lunch on the Ave, and we wandered into two bookstores on the way back to his bus stop, and I only bought one book! Go me!
I also bought the wrapping tissue for Jacyn's birthday present which I bought four or five months ago, and yay for procrastination, didn't actually wrap until after I got back from lunch.
After work, I met a few gals from the office for margaritas and dinner at Agua Verde. Besides the awesome food, I love catching up with the office gossip - as the computer guru, I'm somewhat at a remove from any bitchy infighting, and all the imperious doctor-types I either ignore or hand off to my boss. So it's with somewhat fascinated horror that I hear about the Chairman's lackey who kisses ass to the docs and treats everyone else like dirt. I do thank my lucky stars that when I do have to deal with insistent, demanding sorts, I can usually fix whatever's wrong and keep my temper until I don't need to deal with them any more. And none of the doctors patronize me, because while they may have more letters after their names, I make their email go.
I finally dragged myself home and found a trio of messages from Mom and Dad. Dad's passed the second interview, and if the Boss-man likes his business plan, he's hired! And a real estate agent has been making Offer noises for their house. What they wanted to tell me, besides the good news, was Mom's Requirement List for househunting. Dad's willing to pay for a rental car for a day or two for me to toodle on down to Olympia (where one of the plants is - the other options are Tulsa and Albequerque, and those are just right out) and go house hunting for them. Whee!
It helps that I've been house-shopping with Mom on many, many occasions. For a good year while I lived with them in Kansas, the Sunday routine would be Church, Lunch, Open Houses. And while the wish list has some arcane items, like Mom's Studio and a seperate mother-in-law sort of space for my grandfather, they can always add-on. So not this weekend but next, I'll go adventuring!
