Poopy. I've lost my calligraphy box *again*. This stupid brown wooden box *always* manages to lose itself, and I know I've seen it in this condo, so it's not lost in the move like a beloved teapot of mine... *sniff* Goodbye, teapot!

No, it's just gone and moved itself with a couple other calligraphy things. But not a set of nibs and a single bottle of ink that I put in a completely different place, so I'm not completely at a loss. Still. Buggerall.

Yesterday morning I put in my last hour for the P-Patch and ripped out about half my tomatoes. Filled up a bowl with them - this morning I'll go back and see to the other half of the patch, and decide if it's paste or juice I'll be canning off this batch. (Most likely juice, as they're mostly cherry tomatoes.)

I wonder if Meg wants the green ones.

I should get a food scale. I don't know how many tomatoes I picked, but it was another entire bowlful. Heaping too, and I was practically waddling on the way home. My neighbors to one side were there, doing some season-end tending of their own, and they gave me some sage, thyme, and dill. Plus, they showed me that the radish seed pods (I'd intended to bring them to gaming, and the next thing I knew, they were huge!) were quite nibbly. Much better than the roots, not so nippy. They suggested pickling, so I've got my work cut out for me this week for sure.

My patch looks so bare! There's a pair of straggling cucumber vines that are still producing wee pickling cukes, and slowly succumbing to powdery mildew. And one spiky bit of green where the leeks are. And a whole lotta bare ground that's gonna need mulching and stuff. Plus, I gotta figure out what, besides spinach and the onion family (leeks, garlic, etc) I can grow over winter.

Lots of leeks, at the very least. The three I rescued from the compost bin at the beginning of the year all seeded nicely. One of the seeds even sprouted on the seed head! Very much like an Egyptian Walking Onion. (Which I want, because they are neat.) Happy little leekses.

Tired now. Don't wanna go to work tomorrow. Don't wanna stay home and deal with Attack of the Lilliputian Tomatoes, either.

I should start thinking about Halloween, but every costume idea I have starts and ends with a Regency Dress, complete with corset, and I don't have that sort of energy. There was even a spencer pattern in one of my knitting magazines!
