Dec. 26th, 2004 09:33 pmSo my uncle's not too badly off, it turns out. The pneumonia was mostly my cousin freaking, though on the bad side, my uncle's problems seem to be stress-induced from needing to take care of my grandparents. Grandpa's 90, mostly deaf, and getting vague, while Grandma's just shy of 90, and unfortunately too spry for her increasingly limited memory.
Still, Dad needs to fly to New York and take care of them, look into getting them into more full-time care than what they've got, nix my uncle's idea of a house for all three of them (oh, the bad, bad ideas...)
I think I've managed to volunteer next weekend to drive with Mom back down to Albuquerque, too. Oof.
Dad's not on his way just yet, so we're making the most of it. Mom and Dad arrived last night, just in time for dinner at John and Meg's, which was lovely. Meg put on her usual lavish spread, and so even if I wasn't expecting them to drive quite *that* fast, they were able to squeeze in.
Today we had brunch with Dru (who, after being up working 'til 3, went home again to nap after) and had a bit of togetherness at my place after. Mom knit, Dad dinked around on the Internet with my laptop and I played a bit of WoW. Dinner was at Ray's Boathouse out in Ballard: Fabulous food. Splendiferously pricey, but worth it.
Tomorrow they'll hang with Dru while I work (grr) and Mom at least will be around until the weekend.
