Up, rather than down
Jul. 8th, 2005 05:08 pmYesterday I managed to sleep through both my alarms and only made it to work by 9:30. Badness. Still, I wasn't all zombie-fied, and while I had to stay late to make up the time, I got to have dinner with my brother and his friend Mikey (just arrived from London and ready to hop on his bike for the Seattle-Portland STP race.)
Good sleep last night, too, and good news this morning - Dad's found a lovely little place in Albuquerque to take Grandma and Grandpa. It's a new facility, one of those converted single-family dwellings, and the gentleman who runs it has two other places already, so it's not as though he's new to the whole thing. There's a park a half-block away from the house where there were model airplanes flying, and as that's one of the things Grandpa did with my uncle, I'm hoping he can continue to find joy in their shared passion.
Speaking of planes, Dad's found one. There's a guy in Texas Dad knows with a plane, and it's a plane Dad helped him buy and fix up, so he's extra-confident about the suitability of the plane. Plus, he's talking with the folks at Angel Flight - the flight's a little longer than they usually deal with, but it's possible they'll be able to assist with insurance for the flight and helping the plane's owner write off the expenses (which our family will likely reimburse him for anyway) as a charitable contribution.
Plans are still on for next weekend, which means I'll need to clean up the living room and kitchen for Deb, but I'm putting that off for tomorrow morning - tonight, I'm off to see Fantastic Four. I've got to kick ass tomorrow, too, as I've promised to help Ali pack for her move. Sorry, Kris! I'm double-booked as is!
