Rolling right along
Apr. 13th, 2006 09:03 amSo, C, the new guy (can't call him Gus anymore - that was just the placeholder for the sockpuppet) has a fiancee. Ah well. He's settling in nicely, and soon should be up to speed and taking calls and I won't have to! Yay!
Also, there are rumors of windows. We're moving all us IT folks into our own space, but that'll take a year, at the least. In the meantime, we're getting shoehorned into some empty labs. We don't get to keep them, because that would mean decommissioning lab equipment like the fume hoods, and that's EEK-expensive, but really? I don't care - we'll have windows. Yay windows! And J and I will be in the other lab, not with Bossman and Sub-boss and C and the student. Muahahahaha! (Ok, we'll have the servers and the room will be a jillion degrees, but hey.)
Dru and I hit 37 yesterday on our WoW characters. I've been playing a druid to his rogue, and we can plow through mobs in no time. It's fun. He's gunning for mount at level 40, and I'm trying not to gloat about travel form at level 30. Hee. The funniest thing about it is that without meaning to, our characters look like siblings. Two, tall, white-haired night elves.
Dad'll be in town this Sunday, sort of. He's got business down in Olympia, and is willing to spend time up here ripping out my bathroom fixtures and replacing them. He's ready, at least: I'm not! I have a plan, and I have a good idea of all the fixtures - I had a contractor come in and give me a bid, but I wasn't willing to cough up $5000 on a bathroom. A wee little condo bathroom. Maybe if it had a whirlpool tub, but...
And of course Dru already has commitments and is otherwise unavailable between work and school. Silly work. He did get a little mad when I asked and I got defensive, but I can't really blame him - he's tired of Mom&Dad's habit of last-minute planning, which is driving the timing here. I have perhaps a bit more sympathy for Dad's time up here being driven by work concerns, and my plans didn't conflict this time around.
The Book Sale is coming up - surprising me, as I haven't seen the call for volunteers yet, and somehow it didn't make it onto my calendar. I don't think I have time to shoehorn in my usual 3-days off to volunteer, either. I'm trying to put my crap into storage, anyway! (Note to self: remember to reschedule - and while you're at it, get around to replacing that darn cellphone!)
