More of an expedition than a jaunt
Mar. 18th, 2007 07:25 pmToday I meandered over to Bremerton to check out the housing prospects - it's something I've been meaning to do for a month or two now, since I got the idea that if I had to have an hour+ commute in order to get more room and yard-space, I wouldn't do too badly to make it a ferry commute. But I've been sick with various plagues for most of February. (Bleah)
I was helping Dru's warrior this morning, and missed the ferry I meant to take over to Bremerton, so Dru told me to skip waiting the hour and a half for the next one and just drive it. So I did - down to Tacoma, across the Narrows Bridge and up north along the peninsula. Pretty trees (you standard NW conifers, not that exciting - Colorado's aspens spoiled me.)
I'd printed off a jillion listings from Redfin, but today's excursion was more to get the lay of the land and so I stopped off in the first grocery store I found and nabbed myself a couple of maps, and spent most of the day wandering around, scribbling on one of them.
Bremerton is... smaller than I expected. I've been in Seattle too long, where the neighborhoods are distinct, but they've all been incorporated into the greater metro area, so people-wise it's just all one big smush.
Right about 5 it all hit me though - I called it a day and took the 5:30 ferry back. Beautiful ride, but I still haven't perked up. Sleeeeeeep...
