I haven't spun in months, but I decided that it was past time to pick up the habit again, and 2 hours at the wheel later, I'm wondering where the time went?

I haven't lost any skill (not that I had much to begin with) and I think I'm even more even than before my break. I've been eyeing some pretty roving but I want to be able to do more than tangles and slubs before I tackle it, and I think I might be there.

I killed my Netflix subscription this morning - haven't really used it the way it needs to be used - I simply don't watch movies at home much any more, and when I do, it's old favorites like Pride and Prejudice. I've got a backlog of Buffy and Angel and SG-1 anyway, if I want less than a movie's worth at a time.

The bathroom is back in working order, after replacing the surround on the tub last month, and slowly getting around to repainting the whole thing. The original color was olive green, and when I redid the bathroom in December, I went with a bright minty green, but I changed my mind, and now it's all the color of French Vanilla ice cream. The cheap kind, without all the little specks of 'real vanilla'.

My sock knitting hit a wall - the pair of socks that lost one was re-found, but I changed my mind on the shin-pattern (no feather and fan, just straight rib) and ripped out the one sock, and started on the other, but then I realized they're just a wee bit too short for me... sigh. I'd rather gift them than rip the both of them (what's a little rib-knitting) but I need to bleed off some of my frustration with them first.

The other pair I was working on (when the one of the first pair was lost) just got stalled at the end of the first - I'm unhappy with my stretchy bindoffs. Much as I like toe-up socks, one of these days I'll have to knit a pair the other way.

I'm thinking about a worsted weight pair (which will go damn quick) and I have the yarn already. (Go me: knitting from the stash!) but I'm kinda burnt on socks as a whole. Gimme a month or two.

So: there's the orange tank top which needs finishing (but that's not bus-knitting), the huge coat (which is now too big for convenient bus-knitting, and in addition: coat, in summer) and the kimono-style sweater which I rediscovered... and am now unsure of. It's supposed to be stripey, but my yarn choices weren't contrasting enough, and I've learned a lot of tricks since I started it that would make the finishing so much neater, but I don't want to change half-way down the back, so to speak. I'm this close to ripping it out and tossing the yarn back in the stash.

I toyed around with a lace project I started last year - I'm more comfortable with lace now than I was, but the bus is just too bumpy and start-and-stop for fiddly lace-weight and messing with charts and patterns.

So this morning I chucked it all and cast on a little bat-wing shrug in Knit Picks Andean Treasure (Colorway:Embers) It's all brioche stitch all the time, and while it took me 4 swatches and 3 cast ons to get it right, it's knitting up like a dream. The baby alpaca yarn is the softest thing ever - I keep wanting to stop and pet it or rub my face in it. I've got a seminar-y thing tomorrow morning: more knitting time!
