Mango Elephants

I have no idea what this sticky note means:

14 in Philly -
3 Oregon
1 couple
more women
far north
Mango Elephants in the Sun

Left for Paris Tuesday night

Absolutely no fucking clue.
But it's in my handwriting, so I must have known something, sometime.

I casn help you with one of these

MANGO ELEPHANTS IN THE SUN is a book:

Mango Elephants in the Sun : How Life in an African Village Let Me Be in My Skin
by Susana Herrera (Paperback - August 2000)

I recognized it and just checked Amazon to make sure, and that's where I copied the above listing.

Good Luck figuring out the rest!

Oh!! I know now! It's doodles I was making talking to my brother when he first got to Africa a year ago. Damn.

Wow. Ok, I can dig that.

Here's how it falls out: there were 14 Peace Corps Volunteers gathered in Philly, 3 of them from Oregon. There was one couple, and more women than men in the group. Dru was being posted to the far north of Cameroon, in the interior of Africa.

Mango Elephants was a book that he mentioned that's about being in the Peace Corps in Africa, and then the last note was talking with Dad later, when Dru had left from Philly for Paris Tuesday night.

Yay context!

Were you reading as I was writing? How could you post back so fast? Tylor was scrolling through and I made him stop so I could read because I have never seen this before. He went to the library before it closes since he can't go tomorrow. I want to know how you do those emotional animated green stars.

Hi Mom, Hi Dad. First time in the comments section? The stars are one of the little emoticon things you can designate when you post journal entries. Can't do it in a comment.

Mango Elephants

14 Peace Corps volunteers meet in Philadelphia with Dru among them before heading to Cameroon. You have been faithfully taking notes on a phone conversation about your brother. 3 of those volunteers are from Oregon, there is one married couple; there are more women than men; and their projected destination is the far north of Cameroon. Also Mango Elephants in the Sun is a book about a woman Peace Corps Volunteer who served in northern Cameroon. Remember, Dad Hall found it and brought it for him. And it was Dru who left for Paris on route to Cameroon. Sidenote: out of those 14, 10 are finishing their first year. And who could possibly remember all this stuff?
