When your period's almost 2 weeks late? Wear white pants. That'll get ya going. Fortunately, even though I've used a Divacup for years, I still keep a small stash of emergency tampons at work.

Had dinner with Dru and his friend Mikey last week before Mikey went off on the STP this weekend. I kind of miss not going along for support, like I did last year, but Dru's not doing it this year (too much school!) so no Powell's trip for me. I did hit up REI with them, and while Mikey was getting serious cycling and camping gear, I checked out the water bottles. I've been reading that re-using bottled water bottles gets bad - they start to break down, and since I'm not about to start buying bottled water in bulk, I've got a couple extra Nalgenes. One for work, and one for the bedside and one for popping in the fridge for cold water on demand.

Tuesday I had a nasty headache - tossed and turned all night and woke in the most foul mood. So I called in and started killing things online. I was sufficiently recovered (and level 51 on my shaman - woo!) by dinner time to hook up with Ali at a little place near her work. Good, *good* food, and we wrapped it up with the most divine berry tiramisu. Perfect desert to a perfect little tete-a-tete.

I just finished a pair of socks two nights ago - down to the last 6 inches of yarn on the one. They're rather short, anklets if you will - one more reason to knit toe-up. I'll get pictures eventually, I'm breaking down on the camera and buying one. The knitting bug compels me! Must get pics of all the pretty yarns, precious!

I'd tried to start on another pair, but one of my lovely bamboo needles has a crack in the end! (I'll have to email the Loopy Ewe about that) So I pulled out my alpaca shrug and had a day of smooshing my fingers on it every row. Lovelove the texture. I brought another potential pair of socks today, but I also hit up the library last night, so Elizabeth Zimmerman's Knitting Almanac may take up my bus time instead.

Had a chat with Mom last night - I usually get the urge to talk to her on Wednesday nights, which is a church service night for them. So I called and left wistful little messages and it turns out Mom was in a church *meeting* when I called. And someone left her phone ringer on... Hee!

They'll be out here in September, when Dru is in a class lull, and Mom may stay a few extra days with me while Dad jets back to ABQ (only fair, since he's up here more often.)

And now I should really think about working, since we've got two people out and I've got 21 tickets on my to-do list.

Re Divacup -- like? dislike? review?

Well, as I've been using it for... I forget how many years now, but many, put me in the serious 'Like' category.

I've always hated pads, and I while I never really disliked tampons in the same way (they'd leak along the string on heavy flow days, which did bug me) - you never run out of something reusable. It's easy to clean, less messy than pads or tampons and even easier to use for swimming!

The worst that has happened has been a little cramping the first couple of days of my period (which may also just be due to changes in my flow pattern) and a few times I haven't been good at reinserting, and it's tried to work its way out. You don't leak, but you can feel it, and it's uncomfortable.

Also, sometimes I spot a little the week before, and where a tampon would dry me right up and hurt, I can just leave the Divacup in and not worry a bit. It's gotten so I can even tell on heavy days when it's starting to get full - time to empty! (You can totally pee w/o having to dump the cup.)

Um, what else? 'Buy it, buy it now!'? I'm happy to answer any questions.
