The day started at 4am or so. I kept waking up with odd dreams (like the one where my dog - my dead, male dog - was having puppies) The bed was too hot, and I tossed and turned until I gave up and wandered upstairs. I couldn't resist the urge of the couch, and so I curled up in my big brown Jedi robe, tossed the hood over my face to cut out the dawn that was creeping in the windows, and went back to sleep.

I did wake up a few more times, but only to toss Hobbes off my hip or my chest or my stomach. He's such a snuggler.

I gobbled down three more Mack Bolan books, and laid out in the sun for two of them. Literature worship and sun worship combined make for really nice afternoons.

I just ran out for my free ice cream an hour ago. I made it to the door with a few minutes to spare, and spent my ten minutes in line feeling very (hmm... not old, per se) mature. Anciently mature. The kids around me were just that - kids, high school kids, and the life and concerns of someone who's maybe a decade (ACK!) older than them is worlds and away different.

But not to worry - Mike just wrote me, and I can catch him up with my life, and maybe it'll get me to email everyone else who's waiting for news.
