Early, early early, and the first of my alarms has yet to go off. For once this morning, I obeyed the dictated of my circadian rhythm and got up when I woke up. So I'm dressed and ready and I have a watch battery and now's probably a good time to prowl the campus. The busses are running - wait for me!

Yay work!

Well, I'm here, and I have my own little anonymous cube, and no real duties, other than to pretend to be an employee until my paperwork goes through. I have two whole computers all to myself, including the Indigo iMac and a Win2K machine.

I'm not doing anything yet - just tagging along on service calls, and slowly meeting people in the department. One of the techs works at another site half the week, so I won' even meet him until Thursday.

I got up so early this morning. It was full daylight at 6am, and I didn't even want to go back to sleep. I was on campus over an hour before I was supposed to meet my new boss, so I wandered around, and found the neatest views of Portage Bay from the South Campus Center. Picked up a little brochure on where to eat on campus, so right about now I think I'll try to find something to eat.

Well, looks like it only took me half a day to start reading slash at work. I'm not terribly worried at being caught at it, either. I just wish I had something else to do, or even my notes or my recent story files. I have nothing to do but read.

Wow. I just found a couple of notepads I had stashed in my briefcase - one had stats on some computers I was fixing for Garsite. In Kansas. Three years ago. Goddess, I'm such a bloody packrat.

The Provincial bird of the Yukon is the Raven. The NW Territories get the gyrfalcon. You needed to know that.

You also need to know that Canada has consulates in Atlanta, Boston, Buffalo, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis, New York, San Juan and Seattle. Oh yeah. Mountie hunting grounds, baby.

Yay me!

I so kick ass.

I walked home. No bus (feeling poor after eating on campus, doncha know), and I really wanted to know if the walk was going to be evil. It wasn't - it was delightful, a swift walk (I don't do slow very well) up the gentle slope that I'd been dreading, and it took maybe a half an hour. Closer than I thought, and only a gentle slope up. The real hill is the two short blocks to Eastlake in the morning, it seems.

And stop halfway through the entry to pet Calvin. Fuzzy kitty!
