Seattle's the gayest!

Or rather, Seattle has the most gay couples in the country: 1 out of every 21 couples is gay. Or so my morning radio show reported.

Which is not to say that Washington is some mecca or another - in the state, 1 out of 83 couples is gay. And it's not counting the singles scene at all. Not that I know what the singles scene is like - I'm single, but the straight thing and the no life thing kind of get in the way. (though come to think, K never has a problem getting a date, and she's a lesbian...)

But hell... I guess the Jim/Blair slashers have the right of it.

Except they're not really surreal - it's not like the floor was bleeding purple koolaid.

It's just...

I had just locked the stall door, and a woman who'd apparently followed me in asked if my coworker was back yet. "Oh, yes, he's over at Harborview today." "Thank you." Still not quite sure who it was - voices get attached to people last in my head, after names. The whole conversation during elimination is something I don't quite get - was it part of the 'girls going to the bathroom in herds' section of the User's Manual that I forgot to read?

Muk, that lucky little witch, went to breakfast with Ben Affleck this morning. (Some congressional thing - she works on the Hill.) She reports the following: 'So Tom asks this little kid in a wheelchair (who has this rare orphan disease) if he saw Good Will Hunting. The kid says yes. So Ben says "Dude. That's cool thing about being a kind in a wheelchair. Your mom will let you watch a movie with 143 swear words in it." '

I'm just... amused.

Hoo-yah!

Or some suchanother manly-type grunt.

Because I feel like it.

I don't feel like such a fangirl anymore. Nope, not this little fish. I didn't remember that Bruce Campbell had a book signing until I was standing buck naked in the locker room, dripping wet, thinking 'wait, am I supposed to be somewhere else?' Well, not yet - the signing was at 7, it was only 6:15, I'd have plenty of time to saunter Bookstore-wards.

Riiight. For a B-movie actor, he's got a sincere fanbase. 320 books ordered, and snap, gone well before Bruce showed. The seated, honored few in the front had been there for some four hours. Four hours!!! The Bookstore was thronged. I squeezed in past the Computer books and Natural History, and hid in Astronomy behind the little podium they'd set up, and watched the rather obscured back of Bruce's head while he fielded dumb questions. Things like 'Will there be an Evil Dead 4?', which he's answered time and time again on his website - 'No.' Or when people asked him to quote famous Ash lines or demonstrate a backflip, he'd ask 'Am I your little monkey?' <snicker> Fans can be dumb sometimes.

Bruce looked good - clean shaven, though on him a moustache looks good - I love the twirl he gives as Autolycus. He was wearing a cool grey shirt, black pants and these cute little glasses. He prefers non-fiction to fiction. He's left handed, and only slightly nutty - he'd take candy breaks from time to time, and toss out the peppermints and caramels in the giant basket next to him.

I hung around for an hour or so, browsing the Sci-Fi section, writing down more titles for my want list, and flipping through official and unofficial Buffy guides. At almost 9, I decided that this little fangirl wasn't going to get a bookplate signed after all, though I do want to read his book now. And hey - he's going to be at Powell's on July 26th. No, wait, I'm not that dedicated... even for Powell's.

I picked up The Stranger (Seattle independant newspaper) and the Daily (UW student paper), and I'll ransack those ads tomorrow. A couple of new listings that look promising, and the rest are ones I've already got tagged for seeing this weekend. One's a place that will be remodeled before September - newish place... but will they take cats? I think that's going to be my first question when I start phoning for appointments. 'Do you? No? <click>'

A couple of lovely feedbacks on LM, though I noticed, much to my chagrin, that I screwed up - the acrostic down reads Literarary - two extra paragraphs! Ack! Ok, dumb moment over, I'm still pleased with the outcome. I like writing Alex/Methos - It's not exactly a pairing that's been explored, being a) a crossover and b) neither is the hero. There's what, me, Ladonna King, torch, and, um... well, there may be more, but it's not exactly drowning in fic.

Also a feedback about Lucid Dreaming! I posted that puppy a year and a half ago! (and I still haven't finished the prequel - bad author, no biscuit.)
