I snuck in breakfast a few minutes before ten this morning. It's a critical time, ten, because they stop serving breakfast then and switch to lunch. Pity, that. I like breakfast food.

I had to head up the hill to the UDist, to open a couple of bank accounts (one for me, one for Dru), and send a fax, so I didn't have enough time to eat. Fortunately, some kind soul... or maybe it was just an overplanning secretary who ordered a little too much lunch for the conference room down the hall - left salad and fajitas in the hallway. <munchslurp> Mmm... Fajitas.

I'm trying not to play Catch the Sperm, because it's really NOT work-safe. So instead, courtesy of a reminder delivered by the Red Queen herself, I'm reading Menstrual Hut.

Hydrogen peroxide will get out blood stains. I did not know that. This is cool. I've got the chemgeek in the back of my brain babbling about iron and H2O2 and chemical reactivity, and the writer going 'Oh, so that's what they could use to clean up,' and the inner homicidal maniac (not that I have one, mind you - she's just a hypothetical maniac) is just grinning.

I didn't... but what?

Yahoo has personals. Did you know that?

I'm a fan of personals. Every week, buried in the back of the Stranger and the Seattle Weekly, and they're still one of the first things I turn to. They amuse me.

And at the same time, I get kind of lonely, so the idea of posting one occasionally hits the brain and then molders in a corner, because I couldn't be bothered to follow through.

Until a couple months ago, when I posted a personal in Yahoo, complete with picture, and got three pretty lame responses. Well, in retrospect, the ad sucked ass, so I deserved no better. Bleah.

Then a couple of weeks ago, I started browsing again. I was struck by all these guys boasting how outdoorsy or athletic they were. So I... um...

Well, it went like this:

What's with all the outdoorsy-types running around? I like my nature in small doses - a glimpse of Mt. Rainier or the Olympics on a clear day, the blue heron perched on one of the houseboats in Lake Union, a walk through the Arboretum, or any of a number of the hidden beauties of Seattle. I like my culture in small doses as well: books and movies and underated tv shows. I watch the world with delight, and it would be nice to share it with someone, to poke fun of it and be laughed at in our turn. Could you be up for a challenge like that?

Thirteen responses! And most of them are interesting and literate. It's so weird. Really weird. Beyond weird.
