SkinCanvas

I want to write on people. I want to be written on.

And it's not all like the Pillow Book, which got pretty damn freaky, but the idea of being a canvas is so cool. The Japanese have that right - authors are calligraphers are poets are artists. I want to be all that, and the medium too.

I wandered through the UBookstore today on my (indirect) way to the bank, and I stopped by the art department. I drooled over the silk paints and told myself later, after the move. But at the same time, I couldn't stop thinking so? skin? too permanent? will it bleed? The green marker on my forearm did - it doesn't provide a crisp line on skin, which is so disappointing. 'Skincanvas'

But tonight I dug out my tiny little Japanese brush, and the black india ink from that art class I took in college, and went to town. Legs are wonderful things - 'sexy bitch' and 'When in Geneva, bank'. 'When in the course of human events...' over the outside curve of my shoulder and down, and other, random words and phrases as they came to me. The brush was lousy, and wouldn't keep a point, but I can blame some of that on my lack of practice.

It washes off with a little scrubbing, no problem. Better than tattoos that way, and oh, so infinitely changeable. I want to write hot, nasty things and wear leather and go clubbing, or just sit around and write silly things and wonder if people notice while I'm grocery shopping. Or write poetry and wander through the arboretum. Practice my haiku and my calligraphy all at once.

Oops. I missed one, in washing off. 'Skincanvas' on my ass. It'll keep.
