It's official - I'm bored out of my mind. Bored silly. I'm supposed to be reimaging one of my user's computers, but the hard drive's gone seriously bad, and I have to rescue as many of her files as I can before I wipe and reload. Ech. Boooooring.

And I'm trying to distract myself, but I can't write if I'm checking another screen every other minute, and I've overdosed on puppy-fic. Two Towers is staring at me from the corner of my desk, but with my back to the corridor, I'd really rather my boss not catch me reading at my desk.

Snerdpuppy.

I'm feeling better about aikido again. Not so much physically - I've got mat-burns on my elbows now in addition to my knees and the tops of my feet, but emotionally. The anxious blahs seem to be chased off, as much by two good practices in a row as the pizza social the other night. I can still be an action figure!

Ooh - thought! A random craving for fish tacos just hit me, at the same time as the possibility for wandering off to lunch early... Hrm. I could still probably finish TT at lunch if I get a good table with few distractions. Friday lunch, though... I might have better luck after one, and by then I'll have a better idea of how badly fucked this computer is. Yeah. South Center cafeteria's getting old.

Bad sectors

More bad sectors on this drive than a shark has teeth. Oof. Two hours just to reformat it so I can ship it off to Dell without any patient information on it. Urk. The new drive I'm swapping in shouldn't take nearly as long, but I'll still need to come in early Monday to make sure it's done by the time the user gets here.

Two Towers is finished, over happy little halibut tacos with cabbage and avacado sauce and a side of green rice. I love that place. It wasn't even that crowded, much to my jubilation. (Slightly marred by a bloody cliffhanger at the end of the book, but I knew it was coming.)

Coming back, I remembered that Viridian had finished a DS story long enough to rival the Trilogy, so I ripped into Nevermore I had to to stop in the middle, when it got all angsty and sad, but after I figured out there was a happy ending (yes, I do page to the end sometimes), I had to finish it.

Talked to Dad, too. Boy, I'm a busy little bee this afternoon. He had a horrible flight on American, coming back from Bonaire. Late flight, had them sitting in the gate, wouldn't hold the next plane, wouldn't pay for a flight on Southwest, even though they'd pony up for a hotel room... Bad American, no biscuit.

And the ironic thing in this mess of bad customer service? Southwest, the airline they wouldn't honor flights with, the airline they were sending 80 bags with on one plane because American had routed them wrong, the very same airline one of American's copilots was getting a ride home with - they were profitable again by October. American? Still in the red, last I heard.

Mom wasn't home yet, but I'll get the full story about her trip to Phoenix this weekend.
