Further confirmation
May. 3rd, 2002 10:19 amthat Chuckles is an idiot.
Lori called the lawyer listed on the Notice. Apparently, Chuckles is in Chapter 11 bankruptcy. He's got 30 days to pay the bank (which lawyer-boy doesn't think will happen) and then the foreclosure will take 90 days. Which puts us at the end of our lease.
At that point the house will be listed and sold to either the mortgage company or someone else. Considering the market in Seattle for houses over $500K is frozen over like a glacier, I think that unless we put up an offer, it's not going to sell anytime soon.
Interesting couple of points - the lawyer didn't know that Chuckles had tenants, and that he thinks houses sell faster if they have people living there. So if they listen to common sense (which I admit, doesn't always happen), we could stay past the end of our lease, and possibly negotiate a month-to-month with the bank or mortgage company.
And that's if we decide not to buy the house. Now I really need to look at some co-op agreements.
I remind myself that I need to be mindful - mindful of everyone else's wants and needs. It's one thing to pursue a dream, it's another to try to drag people with you, kicking and screaming.
