I'm not any happier at Calvin today, but I'm in a better mood. Last night, I was a schoolmate of Harry, Ron and Hermione, though not at Hogwarts, and we four decided to spend our summer break in Tahiti. Getting there involved a roadtrip across the northern US in a little hatchback. Hermione drove.

I'm still trying to figure out the roadtrip part. I mean, Montana?

A dream I had last week keeps coming back to me - I had to learn Latin for some reason, in my dream, and it took up the whole of it - classes, textbooks, studying. Pity I didn't wake up knowing it.

Rhonda's talking about spider rolls on Hell, and I'm just waiting for lunch. I spotted food entering the conference room not long ago, and I'm planning on scamming leftovers like I did yesterday. Besides, the best part of spider rolls is having people around you to gross out as you much them down with a single leg dangling from the corner of your mouth. slurp Or at the very least, people who are willing to act grossed out as they attempt to steal the roll from your plate.

I'm trying to get back into an Austen-y frame of mind, to finish off the Parody, so I spent most of our morning meeting today recasting Pride and Prejudice. Star Wars didn't work, but the Bennet family seemed tailor made for boybandia. Lance could be the sensible Jane, the pert Lizzy could be played by Chris, JC could be musical Mary, and I had a hard time deciding on the last two, but Justin seemed more fit to the spoiled younger role of Lydia than Joey, though it was close. Right. It's a stretch.

But the pairings then become interesting, because I figure Kevin could do a nice glowery Darcy, AJ can be the wicked Wickham, Howie seemed a perfect Colonel Fitzwilliam, but that left me with Bingley and Collins, and while I don't particularly like Brian, I don't think he deserves to be cast as the fawning fumble-witted Collins. So we make Nick Bingley and Brian can be Charlotte Lucas. Which doesn't quite work. But I'm not writing it, so I'm not terribly concerned.

It's not as much of a shoehorn as trying to cast the Jedi in P&P would be. Oy!

Pagosa means 'healing waters' in Ute. Dad's just sent me a crapload of pictures he took - mostly of the airport, the planes, and the office there. Mostly the planes, though. He took one picture of Wolf Creek Pass, though. Wow. Read more... )

House workout party - run up to the gym and climb onto the treadmills...

Wow, was I not enthused.

Here, let me justify. a) I'm stingy about weird things. I've paid for my year at the IMA, so plopping $10 on gym visit isn't kosher for Scottish penny-pinching genes. b) I dislike running. Intensely. I'd rather swim a mile. c) I tend to use the hour before bed to wind down, not run down.

And for all that, I nearly went. 'Cause sparklyboyporn discussions while treadmilling doesn't sound exactly horrific in the slightest. I dug out my socks and a sports bra and then simply couldn't force myself past the stairs. Bugger. Maybe next time I'll think about rowing machines and go, or see how many other people I can convince to watch me learn how to rollerblade.
