Ah, the beginning of school
Oct. 2nd, 2002 02:56 pmI sort of tend to forget. We're so detached from the main campus, from the ebb and flow of the quarters, that I only really notice the influx of hot bodies and the opening of the coffee stands as the indication, that yes, school is in session.
What I also tend to forget is that we get busier. Nothing overt, no 'September 1st/October 1st is our major deadline, here's my whip, get cracking', but the slow and steady build of things that pile up, the mute urgency of the requests that have tended to languish over the summer, and oops, time to get them done, eh?
So of course I'm writing in my journal now.
I'm Not Happy about the DSL situation. It only highlights my Monday misery when I'm exiled over at Harborview.

I'll bitch to MSN and Qwest about it today.
I mean, really - this is a group experience! Movies aren't nearly as fun when I can't lean over to Lori and poke her with a 'That's Ray Park! He was Darth Maul! He's gonna kick ass, I swear!' He did, too. Kicked my ass just by taking off his coat. Hi, I'm shallow, and I want to lick your biceps, Ray. (And you shut up, Gordon. I don't care if he's short. He's very well put together.
And then Buffy last night. Stale tortilla chips and suspect salsa (not mine - I'm still working on perfecting my version.) are nothing when you're pointing at the screen making noises that in some other universe might resemble a language - and the two other people in the room are more than able to decipher it. (In this case, it was mostly 'Spike! Shirt! Skin!')
See, I really want my Internet back so I can yammer about this the day of, instead of waiting a few days and forgetting half of it all (like going blonder and going shopping, and finding another Monkey Puzzle tree, and bitching about the great void that is Monday, into which quite a few fics disappeared, including this one bizarre Snape/Hermione thing.)
