Escapade Navel-Gazing, Part One
Feb. 20th, 2003 08:15 pmI shall attempt not to enter my food coma just yet. We just ate and changed drivers here in the armpit of California. Or maybe the crotch of California. I'm not sure if Sacremento knows herself.
The thought of transcribing notes has been thrown out the window - I can barely see the keys in the dark, with much squinting and a return to touch-typing, which I can accomplish as long as I don't think about it.
I have a hard time bringing up the subject of my writing for a couple of reasons. I think I'm a good writer, despite the evidence of quite a body of gratuitous parody, but I don't feel as if I can stick with one beta-reader or one set, because my interests in fandoms vary so widely. And secondly, I have such a problem finishing things. I'll be going merrily along, get stuck or interrupted, and then it's another two or three months before I can get back to a fic. And in the meantime, I've gotten another two or three good ideas that I feel would make good stories.
And yet, not a single one of my longer stories has managed to weather my benign neglect.
I just realized that I'm an enormous dork. I wrote this little Harry Potter piece that two months later, I'm still quite fond of. And all I did was slap it up on my site, with a comment to LJ. Dork. Not a single mailing list or archive. I'll have to rectify that by Tuesday.
