Green rice
Jun. 18th, 2003 08:11 pmWell, the green rice turned out rather yellow, due to the saffron, but it was muy bueno. The recipe I was using called for less rice and more chard - I may try that next time, in the interests of experimentation. For now, I have good leftovers.
Today was remarkably not bad for a day at Harborview. Amazingly so. It helped that loud-coworker-L was out sick, and no one used the typewriter. (Right behind me, should require earplugs to deal with the decibel level.)
Last night I dragged Dru over to Meg and John's almost as soon as I got home, and traded daylily seeds for resume advice for Dru, and then pickled another 20 pounds of asparagus. Meg and I have this bad habit of pickling on the hottest day of a given week. We take turns sorting the asparagus from the ice water after blanching it, just to get a chance to cool down a bit. Another dozen or so jars down. I think I'll give her the extra rhubarb I got in my Market basket for preserves.
Got another 100 pages into the Masturbation Book. We're finally getting into the pictures! Hee. Woodblock Japanese prints so far, but there's more to come. Book's due tomorrow, and I've another book on hold, so I'm thinking to finish it off tomorrow. Clear the decks for Harry Potter.
I have an idea for my Halloween costume: the quidditch uniform for the Holyhead Harpies (description from Quidditch Through the Ages No time or energy to finish it by the plethora of parties on Friday night, but if I start planning now, I might be done for Halloween. Still going, you understand, but no costume.
