I had the weird idea that I had to be at Harborview today, but was so sluggish getting out of bed, and almost forgot my Market Basket, that I just headed for the U to double check. Turns out coworker T, for whom I'd be covering, isn't on vacation until August. Well, snerd.

High Tea Saturday was delish, with extra scones and lovely conversation. Did get me started thinking about maybe doing something for my birthday. Tea has now Been Done, and I haven't had breakfast yet this morning, so anything with food is a good idea at this point. Mmm... crab... But I digress.

Yesterday Kasha and I went to see Shakespeare in the Park up at Volunteer Park. The first play was Merry Wives of Windsor, which is just eh. Not terrifically funny, and the company had problems projecting. I also got this lovely commemorative sunburn on my legs. My arms a bit too, where I missed with the sunscreen, but mostly my legs, since I'd put on a sarong, and hadn't considered that I'd pull it up a bit to sit. There's this lovely line right across my thighs where the bike shorts I had on underneath ended, and what once was fishbelly white is now lobster red.

We ditched the middle non-Shakespeare play for the wading pool, and came back in time to nab a shady spot and watch the second company set up for Much Ado About Nothing. Lovely play, and some old faces: three of the actors had been in the Taming of the Shrew. Kate-that-had-been was playing Benedict, and he looked much less scrawny when not in a dress. Claudio was fan-myself-hot. Especially with the uniform and the boots and the sword. Humina.

In other news, Lori bought herself what I was planning on giving her for her birthday. Same thing happened last year, dammit, only with a different item. Shall have to replan.

Also have to figure out what to get for my brother. Other than a job. I don't have a spare one lying around.

Another article on pirate culture, with a section (towards the bottom) on matelotage, or homosexual marriage (or, in some cases, the sharing of a wife with one's partner. Threesome, anyone?) There's also another bit even further down about how the pirates of the South China Sea operated in family groups, and thus had a self-sustaining/replenishing crew.

Ah, bliss!

And believe you me, I never thought I'd associate that with Harborview in any way.

But since coworker T is in class this week (not on vacation, as he will be in August, which is what confused me), I get to break in our brand-spanking new office. Sans office-mates.

Oh, solitary bliss! No one over my shoulder, no one talking loudly, no constant traffic and chatter. 7th floor view! With a window!

Now that I don't hate my office, I can start scheming to take it away from coworker T.

I is smrt

IQ Test stolen from Nemo, stolen from Kim. Regular pirates, we are... )

And you know... PotC isn't helping the music companies' drive to eliminate online piracy. Not when pirates look and swish like Johnny Depp.
