Sufficiently disturbed
Jul. 27th, 2003 05:09 amIt's the morning after Lori's birthday party, and I was awakened just a few minutes ago by the sound of puking. My immediate thought was that perhaps Lori had overindulged, or maybe Lucy, but I hadn't thought so, and I was considering getting up and fetching whoever it was a glass of water or something.
Only, as I reached for my water bottle to help chase away cobwebs, I realized that whoever was puking was outside. It wasn't a sound coming from an open bathroom window and floating in my window: it was a sound coming form right outside and just below my window. I looked down, and there sat a man on a mat of cardboard, his messy hair the only feature I could make out in the pre-dawn light. He kept clearning his throat and spitting.
As his back was turned, I eased the window quietly shut, and rose to let Calvin out. Then I checked all the locks. I can still hear him clearing his throat and spitting. It's just lovely.
