9:00 - Wake up more than three hours before you plan on having guests.
9:30 - Get a covered baking dish so you don't have to resort to those plastic bags, and you won't go crying without.
9:45 - 350 for 15 min per pound. At just shy of 10 pounds, this means 12:15?
10:00 - when your brother doesn't show up to make the mashed potatoes? He's still in bed.
10:30 - start the rolls, cause they need to rise. And oh, yeah, the potatoes, too.
10:45 - stop panicking about Dru's potatoes, because he's finally here, and the dinner he's bringing them for isn't until 5.
11:00 - baste the turkey
11:15 - remember to add sage to the butter when you baste the turkey.
11:45 - while skinning new potatoes after you've boiled them works, it's not really recommended. Also, little new potatoes are bad for mashed. Never again, unless I want glue.
noon - Nanny's sweet rolls are a little more sticky than I remember. I'm not sure if that's the butter I subbed for the shortening, or if it's because I halved the recipe.
10pm - I think I've mastered the turkey, gravy and stuffing, though I think my over-all timing needs work. (Though it would help if I got up in time.) Next, I think I need to work on the extras, maybe subcontract the turkey. And the potatoes - Dru's looked really good.
Lori's sucking me into CSI - I kept begging for spoilers, but I do like the mystery angle, and they have just enough character work to make them all seem real.
I started my very first sock today. I've got lots of cheap leftover yarn from the Gryffindor sweater, so I got myself a set of dpns yesterday evening and started in on a You're-Putting-Me-On Toe-Up sock. With all the tv, I'm about half-way to the heel.
Mom and Dad called, and they'll be coming out here sometime soon, with my grandfather in tow. I have quite a bit more cleaning up to do.
