Dec. 26th, 2003

Up at six despite my vehement protests. When I only have another half-hour that I can sleep in, somehow I can't quite ignore all the noise a thundering herd of elephants/two cats can produce.

Christmas was lovely. I pouted a bit because most of my relatives are as behind on shipping gifts as I am (I have intelligence that one of my aunts only started her shopping this week.) But my one set of cousins (who also gave me the latest Peter David book a couple of months ago) gave me the most awesome tshirt: Boys are stupid, Throw rocks at them. Hee! And Boys are Stupid magnets!

And Dru makes up for all the rest of them because he bought me a kitchen table and two chairs at IKEA! And I got to assemble them! It was just like being a kid again, with Legos, putting everything together before you move onto the next present (thus drawing out the present opening experience) only the table is all useful and stuff. It needs staining, but the chairs don't, so it shouldn't be too hard.

And Kasha is this gift-buying guru, I swear. She got me this lovely blue teapot to add to my collection, and it doesn't even drip! Perfect teapots are so hard to find. And dishtowels (always a good housewarming gift) and Eddie Izzard! I could squee. Squee!

I told Dru he needed to bully me into wrapping everyone else's gifts, as I am a horrible, naughty, bad present giver, but he didn't, and instead we assembled the table, and tried to watch Blues Brothers 2000, failed, and then went for a walk in the park. We found the Sound Garden, but the access gate to NOAA is in the new dog park, and has been secured. I think you can still get in through NOAA's front gates, but not from Sandpoint. We could still hear the eerie howl of wind through the vanes. Pretty nifty.

Dinner was at Dru's girlfriend's place, and a little late, because the food-bringers were late back from sledding. We got to test out M's new steamer, and figure out how long to broil steaks - 'Until done', as the cookbook said, was not helpful.

I should evict the cat from my lap and get to work early so I can go home early.

Really.

Any minute now.
