Snow Day

Snowing in Seattle. Haloed streetlights, drifting swirls as the cars drive past, an inch on the ground and still coming down. Bugger this for a box of monkeys.

The UW is one big hill, and so all the buses are rerouting around it. I had good bus karma this morning - I usually take the 75, but the 74 pulled up just as I got to the stop, and he was taking the 75 alternate south of campus... right in front of the hospital. My commute was even shorter than usual! On a snow day!

And now, not only am I early, I'm the only one in the office. Echoingly empty. Weirdness.

I was woken at 4ish by the cats freaking out over the toilet - the metal foil pan I'd been using to hold the litter just under the seat for them fell in, and I'm down to the plastic lid cut down and duct taped into the toilet. They don't like that, but hopefully it'll get them used to *not* putting their fizzy little butts all the way into the bowl and actually perching on the edge.

Finally found the list of yoga poses I'd sketched out last time 'round - didn't want to only do sun salutes, but couldn't remember everything in the list, nor their order. With Dru not camped out on my couch anymore, I can tromp around in my living room in the mornings and attempt to twist myself into pretzels.

Though right now I feel more like a bagette: all stiff.

I was making a peanut butter sandwich for lunch, and decided to finally try the nectarine pepper jam I made months back. It's sort of runny, and I didn't want to inflict it gift-wise, so I've a stack of nine little jars on my counter. Turns out it tastes just like sweet and sour sauce. I had no idea. Now I'll have to make lots and lots of egg rolls to go with. Maybe for our next potluck at work.

My grand-boss called in around ten, just a few minutes after my boss had finally gotten in, and sent the entire Admin office home. I pottered around a bit - after all, I'd just started in on eight hours of U2 on my iTunes, and I could crank the volume up since I was the only one in the office, but the lure of home was a bit too strong.

I asked around at the bus stop, and since the buses were running late, I needed oatmeal, and Kris' house is just about halfway home: I conceived a Plan. Safeway, tea and a lovely chat with Kris, and then home. It was a good plan. Mostly.

The middle bit was great, but the first bit made the last bit a little owie. I was sweating by the time I got home, and my arms were a little achey from carrying the bags. Still, I have warm goopy goodness for breakfast tomorrow, and a little black cat currently velcroed to my neck.

Once I got out onto the trail and ignored my arms, it was lovely. I must have seen a dozen skiers, and there was a group of boys snowboarding down the hill at 70th.

I was contemplating cleaning and sewing while I was on the trail, but now I'm more 'naaaaaaaap'. Just as soon as I finish this last short story.

Oh dear holy lord.

I whimpered like a little bitch: Flash/Chloe, third story down: fireflies.

And now I've read the whole page and I'm a soppy mess. Uber-Sweet, but it fits.
