Weekend stuff
Mar. 7th, 2004 08:42 pmBusy days - I spent yesterday morning bagging seeds for Lettuce Link - they give out vegetable seed packets and starts at the local food banks and to the P-Patchers who grow for the food banks. It was a fun few hours, chatting about growing things.
Dru picked me up for lunch and we hit Costco after. He was rather alarmed to have spent $100 in so short a time, but things there add up pretty quickly. He needed a bed-frame and a mattress pad, and boom, there was half of it right there. He's whining about a dresser and other furniture - it's his first apartment in 3 1/2 years, and he can still pack all he owns into a small car.
I messed around with my worm bin - I've got fruit flies, which are tiny and non-bitey, but annoying as all-get-out. I'm apparently not burying my tea leaves deeply enough, and the worms are having trouble eating them all quickly. It's kind of scary, just with the tea leaves and tea bags, not any other kitchen waste, I can fill a four-cup container in a week. I can't really increase the bin size, as I've no room in the apartment for more. And trying to keep a bin over at the p-patch is inconvenient at best, nevermind the fun predators and other icky things that'll go after my poor ickle wormies!
So anyway, I rotated levels on the bin. I've got a few dozen yogurt cups that I've been saving, and I'll be starting seeds in them as soon as the worms have migrated to the next level of the bin.
Today was laundry and poached eggs while waiting for Dru to wake up, and then we went to see Hidalgo. *sigh* Lovely movie, and it made me all wistful for all the Black Stallion books I devoured in my dog&pony phase as an adolescent.
Dru raided my kitchen for all his stuff, and I sat down to play with my lovely little laptop with its brand new, happy huge hard drive. It makes me happy. Now I can have all my pretty backgrounds and screensavers that I've been collecting at work.
