But it's too hot to do laundry!
Jul. 18th, 2004 02:08 pmHowever, laundry has been done. Towels and sheets and two weeks of clothes I've been putting off, and now they're sitting on my bed, cooling off, because I can't stand to handle them anymore.
Similarly, I'm shirking garden work. I heard a total of two minutes of sprinkle this morning, but it's looking like I'll need to do a bit of watering before bedtime. Much closer to bedtime, however. My tomatoes continue to take over the patch - there are some onions and a few carrots, but the lettuce has finally all bolted, so it's down to the battle of the giant tomato plants. I've been nipping off the odd cherry tomato so far - sweet tomatoey goodness! but the majority of the fruit remains green. Hurry up, you lot! I want to eat you!
I have blackberries! The bushes along the Burke-Gilman were still all (or almost all - the few tantalizing berries at the ends of the spray were ripe, but that's it) gree, but I was wrestling the tomatoes last night, and thought I'd check some of the park bushes out in the wilds. Holy Hannah! Picked a couple pints in a few minutes, so I'm definitely going back soon for a jam run. I made berry muffins this morning, and it still lacks the perfection of the ideal muffins I would make in Georgia. I'm down to trying to recreate the recipe from trial and error. Today's weren't too bad, but they were a little dense - I want my muffins to be fluffy and light. I should maybe test my baking powder - see if that's it.
I'm fighting down the urge to go shopping. One of the nurses was tempting me with the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale on Friday - I was already downtown, and I was just about done with the Inventory Beast, and hey! Sale! I knocked off an hour early instead and went home. But now, the Sale, it tempts me. Also, the air conditioning. However, I think the bus ride downtown in the heat, and ick: people, is off-putting enough that I'll pass for now.
I'm feeling sort of project-y. Hmm.
