Family update
Dec. 31st, 2004 04:38 pmFor those of you still wondering where I've wandered off to, I haven't gone far. Yet.
My uncle's doing fine - not home yet, but recovering well from his surgery. My Dad's still in New York, looking after my grandparents and cleaning up after them both physically and financially. Grandpa's the epitome of stubborn old goat, and fights constantly with my uncle (the older son) over his money, but he also hasn't paid taxes in 5 years, and the IRS just caught up with him. Dad's playing mediator both between Grandpa and my uncle, and also between Grandpa and the IRS. Oi.
But all of this leaves Mom here in Seattle with the car. And more than a few hundred miles of snow between her and home. I've been working half-days this week and spending time with her. We yarn-shopped and knitted and she put me through torture to buy me two new pairs of work pants. After Meg&John's party tonight, I'll head out tomorrow morning with her and drive down to Albuquerque with her. Hence the yarn-spree. :)
I'm still loading up my iPod, but I think we'll both be either knitting or reading to the other. It's mostly for the plane back. I'll have more days off work, but it's a gyp - I'll spend them all in the car and then fly back, with no time for a real vacation in between.
