Bloody hell - it's cold! It's not supposed to be this cold in Seattle! It was this cold in Idaho! In Utah!

Actually, Oregon was the worst: snow and ice coming down. We stopped just short of the border and Boise that first night.

All in all, while the trip had its downsides, it was remarkably pleasant. Mom and I road-trip well, switching off every few hours, and I converted her to the worship of Terry Pratchett by reading Wyrd Sisters to her while she drove. It was fun getting the voices just right. (You can't read Pratchett aloud without doing the voices.)

And while she snores, I brought earplugs, so all was well on that front.

Got to Albuquerque last night around dinner time, and was on a plane by breakfast this morning. I think I got more knitting done on the plane than in the car.

Kris was a darling dear and took care of my kittens for me, although they are now attempting to velcro themselves to my sides. They have food, so they must have missed me or something.

I have to go to work tomorrow. What was this holiday thing everyone was talking about? Is that over? Couldn't I get a rain check?

Am complete dunce. Remembered to turn on my bedroom heat (which is nice and toasty, but doesn't have a computer) but not the living room.

Which was set to 40. Oi.
