(no subject)
Jun. 27th, 2005 04:16 pmInternet-less all weekend. So I watched 9 episodes of CSI that I'd downloaded months ago (first half of season 5), got some knitting in, was kidnapped for breakfast Sunday by my brother, and brought asparagus pickles to a potluck after (no time to make brownies because of the afore-mentioned kidnapping.)

ajhalluk is making me go 'huh' over Tolkein and women, and wondering what LotR would be like if he'd actually included actual women instead of Eowyn and a couple of cardboard cutouts. Everyone's wives and mothers who had conveniently died or gone West. The sisters and cousins that made it into the Appendix footnotes. Finduilas and Gilraen armwrestle for whose kid gets to lord it over Minas Tirith or something.
And
copperbadge finally read Cyrano and reviewed it, between the noses and the intelligent young woman, I got catapulted back to HP - it's a perfect structure for HG/SS, with SS wooing HG in place of any number of potentials, though the first one that comes to mind is DM. (Assuming he had sufficient kick-in-the-head to realize he liked Hermione, he'd need a Plan to woo her, given her understandable disinclination for the boy.)
But really, don't need the bunny as my brain has been taken over by trio-fic where the Wild Hunt finally comes back to the mortal world after a few centuries hiatus and immediately captures Harry, Hermione and Ron. Takes a bit of doing, but they escape the Hunt and come back to school a whole lot more Fey, with a more instinctive grasp of magic. I have this vision of Harry mounted on a silver stag, flanked by a dog fox and a white raven, hovering at the edge of a deep woods, just moments away from bolting back into the sheltering bushes.
