Aug. 26th, 2005 11:55 amHarborview is what made me insane and insanely busy this morning, but even with all the construction racket outside my window, it meant I could hole up in the office once the busy flurry was done and hermit until the crabbiness had passed.
Mostly.
My iMac is on the Fedex truck now, in Seattle. My precious...
And now I'm going back to the U and having some sort of decadent lunch.

One step forward, don't step back
Aug. 26th, 2005 06:55 pmGah! Fedex tried to deliver my iMac at 4:40 today. An hour later and it would have been in my hands! Woe! Oh, woe!

I need to clean and rearrange anyway. I have a sad tendency to organize by pile, and that's not always conducive to finding things again or even maneuvering around very well.
Of course, compared to some of my surgeons... Had to move one today (contributing to the morning stress) and excavated 8-9 laptop bags from under his desk. Desktop computer from' 02 or '03, printer from '97 or so, laptop bags stuffed hither and yon - how'm I supposed to reach the outlet to unplug that mess without a half-kilo of C4, I ask you?
The day ended well, however. We had tea at 4, just late enough to put off all extra work until Monday, and right about when I start getting munchy anyway. Plan B was to make shortbread last night - I napped instead before WoWing. Plan C was to nab something at the store on the way, either by bus or bike... no go. However, by some lucky coincidence, I had fresh tomatoes from my garden, basil from Trader Joes and freshish mozzarella. (I'd intended it for lunch, but I had leftovers from taking Dru out to lunch and watch him buy his new bike yesterday.) Top it off with a wee bit of balsamic vinaigrette (that I have stashed because the cafeteria dressings a) suck and b) weigh too much when you're paying by weight)
I snitched a few egg-salad sandwiches for dinner as we were cleaning up, too.
