Adventures in life as well as dungeons
Oct. 8th, 2005 11:18 pmSo first I had my outdoor time, 3 hours in the garden getting my volunteer time done for the p-patch, and then I had some unscheduled outdoor time changing Lori's tire when it blew on the way to gaming this afternoon. Eep!
We'd neither of us changed a tire before, but she had remembered all sorts of useful advice, so she jacked up the car while I removed the old wheel and popped on the spare. The old thing was shredded. We were trying to figure out what was wrong and some guy came up beside us and mouthed 'your rear tire is flat' and we pull over and it's holed and shredded and smoking. The nuts when I took it off were still warm!
She'll be replacing the tire tomorrow, but I'm glad I was along - not only to give her a hand, but to get that bit of practical experience in under my belt (and with someone there with handy tips - step on the nut-thingy to get that first bit loosened!) in a fairly decent situation. It was only sprinkling, not downpouring, it was the right side tire, so we didn't have to seriously fear for our lives while changing it, and we had friends and service companies within easy calling distance if it all went pear-shaped.
Good times, really.
And then more good times, where my Lycan (read were-tiger) Thera kicked ass but didn't care to take names.
