Dance class
Dec. 2nd, 2006 12:15 amIt's amazingly foggy out there, shrouding everything in that most mysterious of weathers, so that I'm happy once again with the outside. Driving out to dance class and back was just beautiful, mist swirling over the bridge, settling in the low places.
So far, Swing is my favorite dance. There's so much more variation-wise, and one of the single guys (the cutest one, too!) is turning out to be one of the best leaders. At one, point, Ed (our teacher) told all of them to put their left hand in their pocket and just sort of stand there while the women were spun around hither and yon. He just laughed and said that it was his sort of dancing. He was the one who'd really challenge me, unpredictable moves, but clear direction, so I could relax and just go.
Really following is harder for me, I'm much more used to country dances, which are paired, but you're following a set pattern, rather than your partner's whim (so if your partner can't even follow the music, and is sitting there counting and watching his feet, you're screwed.) Even with a bad partner, I'm happy to try to help them get better, but I am glad that they rotate the singles often. (All those couples get stuck with those who brought 'em!)
