So last week I got to dump all of my open tickets on my coworkers and run off to the Mac OS X Server Essentials class for 4 days. I spent Tuesday through Friday hanging out with the same teacher I had the last mac class, 3 guys from Amazon and a guy from some outfit up in Everett. I had a ball.
Seriously, I didn't have to be there until 9:30, the teacher didn't mind if I knitted while he was talking or I was waiting for something to install or run or whatever and we were just zooming through the material to get to the good stuff at the end, really playing around with the servers the way I wouldn't dare to on a production machine.
So I learned a bunch of stuff, and made a Jayne hat (pictures to follow, I've still got to attach the pompom on top) and drank a lot of water. The teacher made a Trader Joes run before the class, and of the flat of water he procured, I think I drank half of it over the course of a week. I made a little wall of empty bottles around my computer, and the guys gave me crap for it, but I was perfectly hydrated, so neener.
I missed my noon yoga classes, and the evening NIA (which I've actually missed quite a bit this quarter) and I had to skip last Friday's ballroom dance class to take the cats to the vet.
Laurier is doing very well. He's a hefty 15 pounds, and he was such a good boy, hardly squirmed at all for the vet tech. Hobbes, on the other hand... *sigh* He's going on 13, and he's lost a lot of weight - he's skinny as a rail at 5 lbs now. He's had kidney stones before and he might be having kidney problems now, and in addition, there's this lump on his cheek. I'm taking him into the vet again tomorrow morning for a biopsy and some bloodwork to see exactly what's going on.
After all that news, I hardly felt like dancing. So instead I cried a little, then logged into WoW and leveled my druid to 54.
This weekend was particularly busy. I drove up to Vancouver Saturday for Valdus&Kithy's wedding, gorgeous drive up and I had way too much time to spare. I'm a slacker and I still don't know what to get them for a present. Someone suggested a quilt, but I'm not that confident of my quilting skills (never actually made one before) or my motivational resources. One can't actually quilt on the bus.
Sunday was Meg's cookie exchange. I never really do actual cookies. This year I made baklava - the first pan I burnt, but that was the trial run anyway. The next two came out beautifully and I had more than enough to share. This morning I brought in all the cookies to work anyway - Lady knows I can't eat em all myself.
After I decamped from Meg's, I headed right to the next shin-dig, the Department Holiday Party. Shockingly, I was the only IT person there - my uber-boss usually shows, but the change of evening from a Friday to a Sunday kept a lot of people from attending. I missed the shrimp cocktail - the caterers didn't have it on their holiday menu, though they reported after the fact that we could have requested it. *eyeroll*
This week gets to be busy too - Dad's coming into town for business, arriving Friday night, and we're going to redo my bathroom! New toilet, new sink, new floor, new mirrors, ohmygoodness! I have to trek to a Home Despot or Lowes and buy it all sometime before the weekend, then Dru's coming over for the ripping out Saturday morning, and I'm not looking forward to all the work so much. Oi.
Anyway, how'm I supposed to get my Druid to 60 before BC comes out? Weekends are precious leveling time, peoples!
