Ok, I can stop looking at sock yarn Any Time Now! Really!

Sooo Pretty...

Le Sigh.

So, what's been going on with me?

Talf and Krys from SOK were in town just before the 4th, and they dragged me around (or I chaperoned them, or something) to some touristy bits with their youngun. Science Center, Zoo, a nice Harbor Cruise where we could sit down and rest our poor toesies. I got to introduce them to the little cafe at the University Inn - Talf was so funny getting excited over the huge bowls of fruit and freshly whipped cream to go with his pancakes (or french toast? I forget - it was hidden beneath the mounds of topping :)

I'm even more regretting the lack of a camera, between their trip and my knitting. I'm working on a pair of worsted weight Lion-Brand cashmere socks, which are dreamy, but I'm also running out of yarn, so they're going to end up short socks. I've pulled the next nascent pair of socks out of the stash, but I've got a couple of other projects tugging at me. I'm hoping to finish up my silly mango tank top, but with the recent heat, I'm thinking more knit tank tops in a nice cotton, just like I already have in my stash, would be nice. Or at least one. And I saw a neat little pair of cotton slippers I could make for Mom.

I digress.

On the 4th, I eschewed parties in favor of explosions! Die Hard and Transformers, and then coming home just at dusk, I walked down the hill at 70th and I could see all the light shows: Kirland, Bellevue, couple down at the south end of Lake Washington, and a few further north. Gosh it was pretty. And no crowds, so yay.

Last weekend I hermitted, but I got a bit of reading done: Shrinking the Cat and A Country Year by Sue Hubbell, Collapse by Jared Diamond and right now I'm in the middle of the Fall of the Roman Empire. Nifty stuff. I also checked out a book on modular knitting, with some idea towards a baby gift for a coworker, but it didn't have anything terribly useful.

The reading sort of puts a crimp on the knitting, but right now I'm working through a massive hold list and all sorts of people are in line in front of me. But it helps me not buy things on Amazon, so it's all good.
