I crashed hard last night - slurped down some miso soup to content the rumblings of my stomach, and fell into bed about 6ish. The cats woke me up at 10- one of them decided to jump out of the lidded litter box, and sent the top clattering, so I replaced the lid, brushed my teeth and went back to the arms of Morpheus.

Boos-man calls up first thing, and is home sick for today, so there's another week I can't complain about the CT idiots needing to take remedial Word classes. I handed over a backup problem to Tom, and whoop - there went my motivation for the day.

So I'm reading Three in Love in hardback and MySQL off of the O'Reilly online books. Threesomes and webgeekery. I find it particularly fitting, since the MySQL docs talk about an Apache/PHP/MySQL threesome. Aaaanyway. I thought I had the notes I made in the recs panel at Escapade running around here somewhere, but I think I left them at home.

Oh wait - salt and vinegar chips in the breakroom. Mmm. vinegar. Time to go vulture.

How does reading about SQL at work count as goofing off, really? Isn't that enhancing your job skills?

Well, it's technical, true, but in no way related to my actual duties. I could lawyer it to make it fit, but it's for a fannish project (permissions-based, web-updatable recs databse) so it counts as slacking in my book.

Which does mean that I read technical manuals for fun. *g*

::grinning:: Got it. Okay. But you can understand why I was bemused?

Oh! Any tech jobs open there? Database admin, sysadmin, software developer, etc? Dragon's hunting.

No worries :)

The UW Computing jobs are here. (http://uwjobs.admin.washington.edu/uwjobs/browse/category.asp?category=29) They're not the best paid, but it's work, and the educational benefits rock.
