Flum and buggery

I was going to yammer on about my weekend, but I just got a call from my brother's insurance provider of last year: the guy I hit in March when my brakes failed has hit the limit for personal injury. As he and his girlfriend both walked away without a scratch (though his riced-out Honda was totalled) I'm rather skeptical of it all.

And yet, worried. I didn't have insurance of my own at the time, which is what the claim guy was looking for. How much am I going to get dinged for this?

I'd guess that that's simply a "is there another source we can tap before their own insurance has to pick up", since insurances don't want to pick up if there's another one they can charge it to...

Do you think there's a chance they might come to me with a huge medical bill, or will this guy's insurance company pick up the rest of the tab?

I think to try to collect from you, they'd have to sue you. You were driving a car you didn't own, it was properly insured, and that insurance has done it's thing. His own insurance should pick up after that.

Thanks - that's a relief - I was panicking there a bit.
