Cunning corsetry
Part of my wee little brain was running in circles today panicking. I'd ordered a pair of custom-made corsets two months ago, and since they take 6-8 weeks to make, I didn't start worrying about them until just lately. So I fired off an email yesterday - hey, it's been a while, where's my shiny?
Oh, it shipped - here's the tracking number.
...arrived two weeks ago.

Confirmed that yes, two weeks ago, yes, correct address via email, and kept stomping on the panic until I got home and lo and behold, there was the package, waiting in the manager's office for the past two weeks.
Gah. I'd forgotten what a fucking PITA it is to lace these things up. And then I get the added contortionist fun of doing it myself. Cross-gartering helps and hinders: it's not going to slip out, but tightening it up is difficult - am I pulling on the right string here?
They're comfortable, though, which may be surprising (or not. Whatever.) I tend not to tightlace - I wear them to feel sexy and to help my posture - I'm much less likely to slump if I've got steel boning wrapped around my middle.

So, not wishing to pry, but are they hideously expensive? And/or were these ones worth it?

I got a deal through their ebay store - trying to get rid of an overstock of a certain fabric. I imagine they'd ship overseas, as well. They are expensive, but if you're going to be wearing something more often than a one-off (and you invest in the undergarments to keep the corset away from your skin) it's worth the investment.
The one thing you have to be careful of is the measurements - I goofed a bit in the bust area, so the overbust corset I got is a little gappy up top, bu the underbust corset is a dream.

I make corsets myself, but if you want a recommendation, check out Xcentricities at www.corset.net. They are friends of mine, but they do great corsets. Expensive, but worth it. For custom work they are willing to re-do corsets if the first one doesn't work, without charging for the second, or 3rd or whatever it takes to get you the corset you want. They also sell ready-made.
Re: Corsetry
And, note, we are talking very theoretical at this point - no plans as of yet in coming over. Mind (::perky::) you *could* come over here and we could all go to EuroDisney?!
Oh, and Misha, if I do go for the non-custom/fitting route, I may pump you for info about how not to get the measurements wrong...
Re: Corsetry
There is a possibility of me and Eric getting over your way next year, but it's only a possibility at this point.
Send me an email and we'll talk.
