What a lovely, lovely Christmas.

I got my requisite holiday burn - I cook on regular weekends and manage just fine, a holiday comes along, and BAM! Ow. This one's on the outside of my wrist, instead of the inside of my arm like Thanksgiving's, but no matter - they heal quickly. Badges of honor or some crap.

Oh, and did I cook. I had a roast on Sunday, just to get in my regular weekend cooking, and a couple of loaves of bread. The bread was gone that night, but the roast's still hanging on. Mmmm. Leftovers.

It's been joined in the fridge by a rather demolished spiral-sliced ham and the tattered remnants of a huge pan of scalloped potatoes. I'll have to do those again - muy compliments came my way, and considering it's the first time I cooked them, and without a recipe on top of that, I consider it quite the accomplishment. The zucchini was also demolished, without leftovers. I managed to find some lovely specimens at the last little market that was open past six yesterday, and they were more than yummy. Yet another thing to put on the repeat list.

John's away with his folks, but the rest of the household was there, and my parents, and Gordon from downstairs (who's really part of the household, he just has a separate little studio), and Seth from the gaming group made eight. Lovely people, all of them. And I got to feed them - yay!

And just enough to play games after (cards were vetoed, and I still need to find my Hoyle anyway): Cranium (in which I rule the spelling, can't do anagrams, and completely suck at the humming bits), Wise and Otherwise (Crackmeup funny - what with burning down Moscow with flowery signs selling Bantu cows), and Simpsons Clue. Good games - the Cranium and W&OW Mom and Dad got for Christmas two years ago, but never really got a chance to play them - they shipped them out to me when I moved to Seattle.

It's the company that's the best part of the holiday. I got loot too, and gave a little loot, and the best presents (besides the Harry Potter Legos - my parents are so completely cool when they indulge my silliest habits) are still the compliments from dinner. And, heh, the socks. Yeah baby - socks and underwear, the Christmas staple. Or maybe it's the adorable little reindeer I got in my stocking. Nope, people - like Ali, who deserves a sainthood at the least for taking charge of cleanup after I push my chair back from the table in satiation and declare the rest of the work to be delegated.

I want more Christmas. Or at least another day or two off. Mrk. I'll see if I can wiggle anything out of work this next week, methinks.

Oh, lovely, lovely holidays.

There is no such thing as too old. Especially for Legos.
