Poly 'n stuff.

Whuff.
I keep getting distracted by this ink smudge on my hand that looks like a bird in flight. Neat, but not quite what's burning through my head.
In fanfic, one of my big turnons is threesomes. Could it be a reaction to the One-True-Pairing stuff that goes around? Yeah. Or it could be that if two guys together is hot, three guys is even hotter.
And then real life intrudes. My best friend (the one who came out in college) isn't just a lesbian - she's polyamorous as well. And today at least, she's not exactly happy with that whole scene. She's a secondary partner without a primary of her - a third wheel in an unbalanced cart wheeling along.
And looking at the Seattle Poly scene (from the outside at least), it makes me wonder if a stable triad is possible. I talk a good game about wanting two guys of my very own, but considering I'm single now and will likely remain that way for the forseeable future (barring the unlikely event that I actually get a life), what the hell do I know?
The way the polys do it, there's primaries and secondaries, and one's definitely the stable relationship, and the other becomes more of a fuck-buddy type thing. And that, to me, seems unfair to all parties. It may work for some people, but I like to think that a trio where each member is equally committed to the other two is more stable and more desirable than primaries and secondaries. Again - what do I know?
I suppose I'll just keep reading and writing, and blissfully shove real life into a shoebox and call it research. Whee.
