It never fails. I moved the turkey from the freezer to the fridge two days ago, and it's still solid. Grr. The only time this didn't happen was when we ordered the turkey and picked it up the day before. Note to self: shoot yourself the next time you put a turkey in the freezer.

Of course, this also means that I'm fairly well practiced at thawing turkeys quickly and revising my little timetable (the one I magically produced out of thin air by simply staring at my rack of cookbooks this morning) to accomodate the turkeycicle.

So things are moving along, with the requisite bumps. The stuffing is nearly ready, and then I can move onto the rolls and the potatoes, and twiddle my thumbs until the turkey pops out. Or something.

It came together like a dream.

There were the requisite surreal parts, like dancing in the kitchen and actually delegating the set up and clean up, and the kitchen is now cleaner than it was when I walked into it this morning, but the rest of it, yeah, dreamlike.

Up to and including the three pies on the table at the end of the meal. After which I promptly curled up on the couch for a good long while. I'll have to do this again sometime, music and all.
