So I found my W-2s on the floor this morning, hiding with the Small Claims Court stuff I'd printed out when we were thinking of suing Chuckles the Slum Lord.

Huh. I'm a little sheepish, but taxes are done, and that's the important part.

I was reading Three in Love some more this morning, and I'm in the middle of the Victorian era, in which threesomes and affairs and mistresses abounded, so long as it was all discreet. Given the social facade and the social reality, I'm sort of bugged by all those slash AUs where the characters don't even consider taking a wife and then just ignoring her while carrying on their torrid affair. To be sure, it's completely hypocritical and unfair to the wife, but it's pretty damn normal.

I wish I could think of an example, but I've got one of those pesky meeting things in ten minutes.

My keys! Oh, happy keys! Oh blissful, lovely, wonderful, useful keys!

My coworker found them in one of the cabinets by the server. I have no idea what sort of crack-monkey idea made me leave them there, but I'm very happy to have them again. Duplicating a house key was one thing, but getting the work keys replaced would have been a nightmare.

I didn't have time to make a sandwich this morning - anyone want to rescue me from my stomach and go to lunch?

Laurier is sitting in my lap because Hobbes isn't here to do it for him.

Hobbes vomited twice tonight, and nothing was in his stomach before that. Then he started yowling - whining as if he were in pain. He's usually only vocal when he wants food or petting, but this had a more strained quality to it.

We're only a few blocks from an all-night emergency vet clinic, so I spent an hour or so in their waiting room, holding Hobbes in my lap as he tried to settle down into a comfortable position and failed. Turn and turn and yowl, whine, growl and turn again.

The vet finally finished up the sutures on the dog who'd come in right before me, but couldn't find anything immediately obvious. So he's staying for blood tests and xrays. I'll know by midnight, and I can pick him up in the morning.

He's so thin just lately. I'm worried.
