Jun. 13th, 2003 07:16 pm1. What's one thing you've always wanted to do, but never have?
I have a list. :) Off the top of my head, I'd like to waterski. Learning how to rollerblade is up there, but waterskiing sounds wetter and more fun.
2. When someone asks your opinion about a new haircut/outfit/etc, are you always honest?
Within the bounds of sarcasm and social acceptability, yes. I've told someone she was hideous before, when she knew (and I did) that she was drop dead gorgeous. She also knew I was kidding.
Of course, I don't always have an immediate opinion, so the 'um' doesn't always mean "I'm trying to think of a nice way of telling you puce paisleys make you look like a week-old corpse" and can sometimes stand for "Hang on a bloody moment and turn around so I can see it in proper lighting."
3. Have you ever found out something about a friend and then wished you hadn't? What happened?
Friend of mine had been dating another ex-friend in college, and we were talking about sex and size and does it matter (since that always comes up), so of course she (the friend) was demonstrating size (with her pinky finger) and naming names (since it was a bad breakup) and I really hadn't wanted to know anything sexual about the ex-friend. It was a squicky moment. Fun conversation on the whole, though.
4. If you could live in any fictional world (from a book/movie/game/etc.) which would it be and why?
I think about being an Immortal from Highlander, but I'm mostly too lazy to want to fight to the death on a regular basis. I used to daydream about Impressing a dragon or a fair of firelizards on Pern, or bonding with a Companion in Valdemar. But those require a degree of responsibility that... I dunno. I think I either want to be thrown back a few hundred years like in 1632 or that one that Stirling wrote, where I could use all my obsolete knowledge of housewifery and general chemistry, or some magical world. I'd make a damn good mage scholar. If I could have Madam Pince's job, I'd be happy, I think.
5. What's one talent/skill you don't have but always wanted?
I've sometimes wished I could play the piano, but like any other of the skills I have accumulated, I'd suck because I never practice.
