My cats are all dead
Jul. 30th, 2003 08:14 pmOnly not quite. They're all sprawled over the linoleum, trying to shed what heat they can onto the cool floor, but if I get up to get more iced tea, they shuffle into the kitchen with me, and then shuffle back into the hallway to flop on the floor. They're zombies, I think, and the moment I let my guard down, they'll attack!
Well, as soon as it cools down.
Wow with the hot. I took a Mental Health Day today to sort out some stuff, think about this whole house thing, and make some decisions. I managed that by two-ish, and then let my brain bake.
I called my credit union today to set up an appointment for a mortgage pre-app. I'm not exactly looking forward to getting it back, because it'll only confirm that I can't afford a real house in Seattle. I'll have to settle for a condo of some sort. Has to be ground or garden level with some sort of outside access, take cats and be close/accesible to the U. Not terribly many of those out there. Ideally, I'd like something in Laurelhurst or SandPoint: close to the U and on Burke-Gilman, if at all possible. There was a beauty in Laurelhurst I found last Thursday, which had already had an offer, and two that might be good up in SandPoint, but they're both on the small side.
I can wait until something good comes along: a month or two at the most, I figure. (Which means we'll probably go month-to-month here, and not be cheeky enough to ask for reduced rent for only a month.)
In other news, mint green tea makes excellent sun tea, while the citron green tea Kasha's parents gave me sould be reserved for hot tea. The which I cannot even think about without wincing right now.
I maybe should have gone to work today: they have air conditioning.
It's 8 o'clock at night, and 91F(32C for you Metric heathens ;) My head hurts. This is one of the smaller reasons I moved out of Georgia, and one of the bigger reasons I moved out of Kansas. Except for the lack of humidity, which I'm really not feeling one way or another. I hope it starts cooling down tomorrow like the weather geeks promise, or I may have to lay a smackdown on the weather deities.
